Bophut is centred around Fisherman’s Village which is a fairly small strip right on the beachfront. Previously known for its fishing, Bophut is mostly known now as a nice place to go for dinner and drinks or to walk down the fabulous Walking Street Market on a Friday night. The market stretches for a kilometre or two with one third being more geared towards food stalls and then the rest of the stalls are for doing some serious retail therapy. Between the music coming from market itself and the number of people searching for a bargain, there is a great atmosphere in Fisherman’s Village on market night.

Bophut is technically a large, undefined area, lots of places on Koh Samui say they are in Bophut for some reason, one of Koh Samui’s great quirks!
