The food is mostly Thai street food, but you can also get many other types of food here, corn on the cob, kebabs, fried chicken, doughnuts, cakes and pastries. There are many street bars that open on a Friday night, which sell cocktails and other beverages. Many come for the food but stay for the atmosphere. As it is such a well-known activity to do on a Friday night, Bophut becomes a big draw for tourists and locals alike. The buzz around the village is hard to beat while the market is going on.

On the other days, Bophut is a fair amount quieter, the village is very relaxed and most of the restaurants and bars are right on the beachfront which provides a relaxing atmosphere with the waves lapping on the beach just meters away from you.

Wat Bohput is a temple just off the main road, which is a pleasant, quiet place to visit. It houses a large monk sitting on the deck of a large boat which in turn has part of the temple inside the boat.

With Bophut’s excellent location, you are never too far from anywhere on the island. There are three supermarkets within 10 minutes’ drive. You can get anywhere on the north side of the island within 20 minutes, which means there are a handful of fantastic beaches and other villages well within reach. Chaweng is only about 15 minutes away if you are looking for some busier nightlife too.
